Editing in PAL

England is PAL (Phase Alternate Lines) but

France is SECAM (Sequence Electronique de Couleurs Avec Memoire)

At any rate, it is irrelevant because the PXL does not have color... :-(

The only difference that matters is that NTSC (or RS-170A)

scans 30 frames per second (60 fields) with 525 lines each,

while PAL and SECAM scan 25 frames per second (50 fields) with

625 lines each.

I record them in Hi-8 then I edit them using the RCTC (Rewritable

Consumer Time Code) which is available through the (Sony) LANC interface.

You would have to convert the PXL video signal to 25 frames per

second through a frame buffer first, then proceed as usual.

I have seen Dual Ported RAM based frame buffers at FRY's Electronics

(an electronics chain store in California) for about $300 which is

a bargain price compared to the cost a few years ago.
