pxl dropped from height

Hi

After having resurrected my pxl after many years, with the help of my

local pxlvision repairman, it returned to the grave when in a tangle of

wires, while preparing for a crowded indoor shoot, it was pulled to the

hard wood floor. The rewind button was jammed, screwing up the operation

of the other tape buttons. After some internal jimmying (sp?) by my local

pxlvision repairman, the rewind button was returned to its place not

without some consequences that he was unable to fix because of time

constraints. I

thought I might be able to go at this myself through this bulletin board.

Symptoms: All buttons go in and out, but the play and play/record

buttons do not "catch," so that one has to hold them down to get them to

activate. Before and _if_ they activate, there is a sickly little squeak

sound before the motor starts whirring. Always, when activated, an image

comes through on the monitor. There is, on most tries, nothing wrong

with this image. Also, the buttons activate the machine mostly

when the cover for camera is off, leaving me to believe that this miracle

of engineering has some very picky calibrations that were thrown off in

the accident, or that are always thrown off when a layperson opens the

casing and tries to reattach it.

Any tips, diagnoses, solutions, or salvations?

        Joe
