CALL FOR ENTRIES: Desktop/Low-Res Video Festival

ENTRY FORM FOR 1997 MAIN STREET VIDEO FESTIVAL.  This year we are seeking

submissions of new experimental video shorts (30 minutes or less), digital

and low-res video.  We are also interested in entertainment, documentary

and educational interactive media work.   Work must be recent; it should

have been completed within the past  year (1996-1997) but may have been

screened in other festivals (please indicate if this would be a "premiere"

festival for your entry, however.)   There are competitive and curated

sections.  Winning films and artist bios will be included in a published

catalog, screened for the public in New York City in May, 1997 and possibly

distributed on cable channels.  In past years, the competition has

attracted producers, distributors, critics and others   FORMAT: initial

submissions on 1/2" videotape;  Entry fee: $25 (no waivers this year,

although some travel support may be available for winning artists.)

DEADLINE: March 15, 1997.  The festival will be held in May, 1997 in New

Submission Requirements:  

Please include a 1/2" video dub with this form and your entry fee in a

single, reusable package.  We recommend using bubble pack, as fiber fill

can damage both videocassettes and equipment.  Label the tape with title,

your name and the running time.  Be sure it is rewound and in good

condition.If your work is interactive in nature, send us the URL, CD-ROM,

or diskette with files you wish to enter

Make entry fee payable to:   Media Research Center     (No cash please);

Add a memo marking the entry fee for the "Main Street Festival" ; Include

materials (such as a short description or other press materials) for your

entry.  Winning artists will also be asked to supply a still photo for the

festival catalog.Include a self-addressed stamped postcard to verify that

your film has been received.

Include a self-addressed return mailing label if you want your tape

returned to you, and return postage if you need express or insured

delivery. Otherwise, tapes will be returned to those requesting it by

fourth class mail only.
