You can't do dissolves between VCRs without Time Base Correction. The sfx-4 is too cheap for that feature, but the MX-1 (I think you meant to write) does a digital synch on two of four video inputs. Panasonic has a WAVE-7 that is a cheaper MX-1, but only has two inputs. Dissolves on cheaper equipment is usually where video dissolves to a color then back to video. I've seen used MX-1's on the Internet for $550. It seems a bit much for PXL productions. PXL seems to be the opposite of slick.
