i have yet to modify mine (waiting to purchase a PC for video, etc).  the web page never really details what's involved in "disconnecting everything attached to the tape drive".  is it stupidly obvious what to do to disconnect the tape drive or is there any advice anyone might offer in that regard?



also, is there any established lifetime for these cameras?  or if you baby them do they last forever?  just wondering if there's any components (other than the tape drive) that seem to melt down after xx hours of use.

i modified my own camera in a matter of 20 minutes for direct video and it

was simple, thanks to the photos and excellent instructions on the internet.

and hey - i'm no electrician by a long shot. 



let's not rareify these dang cameras too much, hmm? otherwise those of us

looking for one will never find it for a decent price!
