lines of interference

often times when i shoot connected to a VHS machine, i find that from 

time to time there are a very annoying series of white dots covering the 

image in a pattern, i thought at first it was rf interference from the 

power supply being next to the cable, but this turns out not to be the 

case, as it still happens when i'm using batteries, however, if i use 

batteries and record onto audio tape, i never get it. i don't think my 

cable is bad, because i've had this happen with a pair of them and it's a 

fairly high quality cable. could it be a loose socket on the camera 

itself? does anyone else have this problem?
